Each month we recognize a player from the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League who has shown the improvement, determination and/or leadership.
Kyle Mugica, Damien
Congratulations Kyle on being named the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League Player of the Month for September. Kyle is the goaltender for Damien High School is perfect in saves, with a 1.000 Save Percentage so far this season. Kyle has stopped 47 shots in Damien’s shutout victory against a very tough Orange Lutheran Team.
He is a Senior and carries a GPA north of 3.00 and continues to be a very positive influence in the Damien Hockey program. Kyle led Damien to their first ever ADHSHL JV Championship last season and has started right where he left off. He is dedicated to making Damien hockey all it can be.
Austin Stanovich, Long Beach High School Hockey Club
Congratulation Austin on being named the Anaheim Ducks High School Player of the Month for October! Austin was chosen by his coach for doing a remarkable job transitioning from forward to defense where he has become a real impact player for their team. His consistency combined with a strong work ethic, make him a very effective player.
Zachary Rosas, Corona del Mar
Congratulations, Zachary, on being named the Anaheim Ducks High School Player of the Month for November!
Zachary was chosen by his coach, Don Johnson, for his dedication and commitment to practice every day! Zach is currently a sophomore at Rancho Cucamonga High School.
Slater Hoar, Edison High School
Slater Hoar was nominated by his Coach Barry Sherer, as the December High School Player of the Month. Slater is a senior and the team captain. Although he could easily play Tier hockey for AAHA, he chooses to only play for the school. Slater leads by example, is a good teammate, extremely respectful to the coaches and very hard working. A versatile player without complaint, he can be found in either a forward or defensive position, depending on what the coach needs and who the team is playing against.
James Barrett, JSerra
James was nominated as the January High School Player of the Month. James is a Junior forward/defenseman for the JSerra Ice Lions JV team. He scored his first goal of the season against Los Al. The goal was the game winner and clinched the regular season JV title for the Ice Lions. He also played in the JV All Star game.
James is a great student and is part of the Medical Magnet program at JSerra High School. Congratulations James!
Gavin Springer, Huntington Beach High School
Huntington Beach High School JV team player, Gavin Springer, was chosen as the ADHSHL Player of the Month.
The HBHS Oilers team struggled thru the regular season but when playoffs came around the team elevated their play. Gavin was one player that really stood out. He led the team and league in playoff scoring. He also played with passion and determination, displaying leadership qualities to his coaches and teammates. Thanks to Gavin and his teammates, the Oilers had a memorable playoff run!
